August 14 presentations to the Joint Policy Advisory Board (JPAB)

The effort to redesign and expand Diridon Station will take another big step forward on August 14. The Diridon Joint Policy Advisory Board (JPAB) will see the latest station design options. They will also consider how their five partner agencies can structure decision-making to oversee and advance the project moving forward.

Here’s what was on the agenda for August 14:

Staff presentation on two station design alternatives

The JPAB will learn about the advantages and challenges of two updated station design alternatives. The JPAB last saw three station design alternatives in May. Staff took feedback from members of the JPAB and worked with the consultant team to incorporate the changes and bring back two station design alternatives.

Project advisors will discuss options for governance and funding

The consultant team has proposed changes to how the project is governed. This will help the project progress more efficiently as it moves from the planning stage into project delivery and construction. The JPAB will hear a presentation on how the suggested model will best allow the partners to make the critical decisions needed to deliver a successful project.

We will learn about a new cooperative agreement between the partner agencies.

The partner agencies are processing a new cooperative agreement to improve efficiencies in  advancing the planning efforts while a delivery governance structure  is being developed.  The new agreement will restructure the JPAB into a steering committee with the authority to take actions and make recommendations about the project. It also provides clarity about the roles and responsibilities of each of the partner agencies. The agreement will cover up to four years of technical work, community outreach, and environmental review.

Next steps

The JPAB meeting will kick off a new round of online and in-person public engagement. We will be out in the community over the next several months with the two design alternatives asking for input.

You can join the discussion! Attend in person or call in using Zoom to share your thoughts. Get all the meeting information, including the full agenda and supporting documents, here.
